IRON CHEF*

POINT-T0-POINT COLLABORATIVE VC OPPORTUNITY

DIVISION LEVELS: 3, 4

SUBJECTS: Food Studies, CTS, Home Economics, Drama

REGISTRATION OPEN: November 2 - 13, 2009

EVENT WINDOW: November 30 - December 18, 2009


Food Studies class has never been so exciting!  Compete with another class in Alberta to create a delicious meal with only the ingredients in front of you!

 

 *This event will be repeated in the Second Semester.

Once you have joined, you will receive a registration form via e-mail to complete and submit, as well as an information package to help you on your way.  

 

A partner match will be made for you and you will be notified within a week of the Registration Window closing!

  

DESCRIPTION:

IRON CHEF is a team collaboration and competition involving CTS - Food Studies and Drama curricular link.  

 

BEFORE THE VC:

1. Contact Cooperating Teacher; Discuss Grocery List

In Iron Chef, teams of students, who have the same groceries available to them, are tasked to create a menu item (or multiple menu items), such as an entré, dessert, salad or appetizer. Once teaching partners have been established, the teachers should contact each other to discuss the menu item(s) and groceries that the students will have access to.

 

VC AGENDA:

5 minutes Introductions and rules

5 minutes Reveal groceries and menu item to create

30 minutes Students cook in groups

10 minutes Taste test, discuss what each group prepared; reveal prizes for: Most Original Presentation, Blue Ribbon for Taste, Cleanest Kitchen (or Messiest KitchenJ),  etc...
