Hello Westwind Teachers!

I am looking forward to meeting with you on the 26th to put some plans in place as far as PD around math implementation is concerned.  Before we meet I would like to give you an assignment.  Please spend some time thinking and talking to other math teachers about what your priorities are for the collaborative time you will have together this year.  I know there are probably a ton of topics you would like to cover, but realistically, we have a limited amount of time to spend together and we will be much more productive if we pick one topic as our main priority or focus.  I will list a few below for you to consider:

- Instructional strategies such as inquiry based learning, teaching through problem solving, or the use of manipulatives.

- Assessment

- Unit Planning/Lesson Planning/Long Range Planning

- Technology

- Number and/or Number Sense

- Conceptual Understanding vs. Procedural Fluency

We could focus on specific strands, or focus on specific process skills.

Those are just a few of the things we could do.  Consider them, talk about them, come prepared to share your thoughts!

I totally agree with Bonnie. The more thought that is put into this meeting prior to our time together will result in a more effective meeting.

Some of you have had SAPDC sessions already this year and some have not. I would like you to think about whether this site could be a place to share your thoughts and resources. Thoughts?
