The Emerge 2010 Summit will take place at The Banff Centre from August 15 to 18, 2010.
Alberta Education's Emerge One-to-One Laptop Learning Initiative is in the third year of implementation. This project has provided Alberta educators with research data on the educational and technical merits of one-to-one mobile computing initiatives. The Emerge 2010 summit is the culmination of this three-year project which will highlight research results, lessons learned and best practices using technologies to support 21st Century teaching, learning and leading. This event is open to everyone interested in the use of technology in the classroom to enhance 21st Century teaching and learning. Featured international speakers include Bruce Dixon, Sharon Friesen, Don Knezel, Cheryl Lemke and David Merrill. For information on these speakers and sessions being presented by Alberta educators, visit the summit website. Visit the site regularly as more speakers are added to the list as they are confirmed. Early bird pricing is still available for registration at $200 until March 31, 2010. This price includes all conference materials, sessions, some meals and entertainment. Robert Thirsk had the privilege of expanding the boundaries of space exploration by living and working on board the International Space Station for six months.

Cheryl Lemke‐ President and CEO of the Metiri Group. Cheryl specializes in public policy for K‐12 learning technology, working internationally at a variety of levels with policy leaders, governors, legislators, superintendents,
business leaders and teachers.
David Merrill‐ graduate student at MIT's Media Lab and one of the creators of the Siftables project. Siftables are cookie‐sized computers with motion sensing, neighbor detection,graphical display, and wireless communication that users physically manipulate to interact with digital information and media.
